In Victoria, the increasing presence of wild animals such as deer poses significant challenges for land managers, property owners, and drivers. We offer specialized services for targeted control and removal to address these issues.
While we carry our own permits and Tags for harvesting, we can also assist in carrying out culls on land where the owner/manager has been granted a permit to cull. This requires communication and organization to ensure the cull is carried out correctly and not result in the introduction of biohazard on the property or increased predatorial animals looking for carcasses and then learning the territory has a viable food source.
We believe in responsible management of pest animals, and whenever feasible, animals removed during land management projects should be utilized for either pet food or human consumption. Alpha Pest Control and Game Services holds a Field Harvester license and operates a Alpha licensed Game Meat Harvest Vehicle to ensure compliance during transport to approved facilities.
In Victoria, Wild Game encompasses animals like rabbits, hares, kangaroos, pigs, deer, and goats. Harvesting from private land requires written approval from the landowner, and harvesting from Crown land necessitates prior approval from the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA).
It’s important to note that harvesting kangaroos for human consumption is prohibited in Victoria. However, licensed facilities can process kangaroos harvested by accredited harvesters with proper tags. Only tagged kangaroos can be supplied for pet food, with one kangaroo per tag allowed.
